PREPARING FOR YOUR SHOOT

These are not hard and fast rules but as a general guideline will ensure the best and smoothest shoot experience for us both.

  • Feel free to ask as many questions as you like in the days/weeks leading up to your shoot. I want to make sure your mind is completely at ease on the day so please don’t be afraid to ask anything you need to help you going into things - there are no bad questions!

  • Plan your shoot - think about location, outfits etc. and any ideas you’d like to explore. Spend a bit of time researching images you like and get some inspiration; look at posing and lighting (feel free to send over any inspiration or reference photos you think would be helpful). Google, Pinterest and social media are perfect places to start for this. If you have a location booked, consider colours in different areas that could work well with your chosen looks. Take a note of which poses you like the look of and practice a few in the mirror (full guidance will be given on the day but it can’t hurt to have an idea of the direction you’d like to go in and a few you’re already comfortable with).

  • If you’re planning to shoot nude/implied/topless, it’s a good idea in the hour or so leading up to the shoot not to wear lots of tight clothing to avoid leaving marks on the skin (this can of course be fixed in photoshop but will make the editing process much smoother).

  • Get a good night’s sleep before your shoot - it will make all the difference to your day on set.

  • Try to relax! It’s perfectly normal to be nervous before a shoot (particularly if it’s your first one) but don’t worry, I’ve worked with people from all experience levels and always make sure to create a fun and stress free environment on set - I’m always available for any last minute questions you may have. Also you’re welcome to bring a friend or partner provided they’re comfortable and don’t hinder the shoot process.

SHOOT DAY

I’ll do a final check in the morning of the shoot to ensure everything’s good to go and let you know what time I plan to arrive. Generally speaking I’ll aim to be with you around 20 minutes prior to our start time to say hello and get a feel for the space, and have a quick chat to discuss any final details regarding the shoot.

  • Once you’ve checked in to your space, it’s helpful to let me know any necessary details regarding access (entry code, room number, whether I’ll need to wait in the lobby to be collected etc).

  • Please do your best to be on time - of course sometimes transport delays are unavoidable (especially in London) but if we can start the shoot on time without feeling rushed the entire process will be much more enjoyable for everyone. If you do encounter delays en route, just keep me updated as soon as you can. In the very rare event that I’m running late I will inform you asap and make sure you get the full amount of time you’d paid for.

  • Please don’t arrive to the shoot visibly under the influence of alcohol or other substances, or drink to the point of intoxication during our shoot. Champagne/wine etc. is often used as a shoot prop and this is welcomed and encouraged, but if you’d like to drink more than a glass I respectfully request that you wait until the shoot is over - photo shoots are of course supposed to be a fun and relaxed experience, however I also maintain a professional environment on set and politely ask that you do the same.
